    The Statistical Analyst Trainee will be responsible for entering, validating, and performing quality assurance on vouchers and will assist staff with claims processing. The Statistical Analyst will also prepare routine claims management reports in narrative and/or statistical formats and collect and maintain claims data for special projects and trend analysis.

    The Statistical Analyst  Trainee will receive training and development required to prove proficient at check processing and distribution, quality assurance for payment processing activities, posting refunds and recoveries to claim files, and opening and closing claims. This individual will develop the necessary skills to collect, analyze, and prepare various detailed reports as identified by management on a recurring basis. 

    Responsibilities

    • Enter, validate, and perform quality assurance on vouchers 
    • Secure appropriate signatures on checks and prepare for distribution to include special mailings for time-sensitive payments
    • Enter and perform quality assurance on refunds and recoveries into the system
    • Create and maintain electronic payment documentation
    • Assist staff with claims processing activities 
    • Prepare routine claims management reports in narrative and/or statistical formats
    • Collect and maintain claims data for special projects and trend analysis
    • Perform all tasks in accordance with processes established in Sarbanes-Oxley Work Flows
    • Maintain special category claims logs the system and distribute to claims management
    • Communicate complete and accurate claims data to management, other AMERISAFE departments, and external customers in the desired format
    • Perform data entry/processing tasks essential to correct or complete information required for accurate analysis and reporting
    • Establish and maintain paper and automated files
    • Provide assistance to team members to ensure team goals are met
    • Attend training classes, workshops, and seminars as directed
    • Maintain confidentiality at all times in accordance with company policy
    • Performance of additional duties may be required as directed by the supervisor

    Qualifications

    • Associate’s Degree or equivalent formal education in Business or Accounting, with one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Intermediate to advanced use Windows application programs with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel; knowledge of data management software is advantageous
    • Flexible, highly self-motivated, and dedicated to quality task completion
    • Ability to write letters, summaries and reports using prescribed formats and basic rules of grammar 
    • Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Ability to perform basic calculations and utilize resources to complete complicated mathematical equations, formulas, etc.
    • Accurately interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic or report form
    • Apply consistent/sound principles of judgment in prioritizing work activities
