    The Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing the company’s strategy for acquiring new business through non-traditional distribution alliances, new product and product bundles, insurance programs, partnerships with associations and affinity relationships.

    The Business Development Manager will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of AMERISAFE by planning, directing, and securing alternative channels of distribution, focusing primarily on larger sized opportunities in a national setting. This position will be located in either the AMERISAFE DeRidder or the AMERISAFE Omaha office.


    • National travel one to three nights per week with possibility of extended periods depending on the needs of specific projects.
    • Creates an annual revenue and expense plan that aligns with the company’s alternative distribution channel growth goal
    • Responsible for developing the company’s strategy for acquiring new business through:
      1.     Non-traditional distribution alliances
      2.     New product and product bundles
      3.     Insurance programs
      4.     Partnerships with associations
      5.     Affinity relationships
    • Builds and maintains a pipeline of prospective opportunities.
    • Effectively presents new proposals and gains approval from the appropriate internal decision makers.
    • Collaborates with marketing, underwriting, regulatory, information technology, risk and information services, and other departments as necessary to ensure the successful implementation of new initiatives.
    • Leads negotiations on all terms and final agreements with all new customers and partners; including terms of service, financial consideration, and support.
    • Manages multiple high impact projects and business initiatives at once.
    • Responsible for timely reporting of the prospect pipeline status, prospect and partner interaction, sales calls, market trends, and performance to plan of established ventures.

    • Multiple years of proven experience in successfully managing complex sales situations. 
    • Multiple years of experience developing successful strategies; identifying and framing issues, conducting market research, and developing execution plans.
    • Minimum of (7) years of experience in a revenue generating role within the P&C insurance industry.
    • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in a business orientation preferred.
    • Ability to manage the business development function successfully, working with limited direction.
    • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
    • Excellent customer service mindset with a focus on a world class experience for new and existing customers.
    • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and represent the Company professionally, both internally and externally.
    • High level of professionalism and ethics, a person who thinks and acts at the senior level.
    • Proven leadership in consistently increasing revenue and profitability.
    • Proven ability to identify potential strategic partners, alliances and relationships to expand profitability and existing channels.
    • Ability to establish strong professional relationships and motivate created alliances.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • Must have personal transportation means to travel for business purposes
    • Ability to manage the business development function successfully, working with limited direction.
